ResQ — Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 July 2026. ResQ connects stranded drivers with recovery drivers nearby. This page names everything we hold, for how long, and how to delete it.
If you request a rescue (customer)
- Location — your GPS position or the postcode you enter, to find drivers near you and show them where you are.
- Name and phone number — so your recovery driver can contact you. Optional account sign-in (Apple or Google) stores your name and email so your details are remembered.
- Vehicle details — registration (checked against the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service for make and colour), plus anything you type about the fault.
- Photos (optional) — of your car and yourself, shown to your driver so they can recognise you at the roadside.
If you drive for ResQ
- Live position while on duty — broadcast to nearby customers so they can see you approaching. Location history is deleted after 24 hours.
- Profile — your name, photo, truck photo, truck details and planned routes.
- Verification — full name, date of birth, address, driving-licence number, and your licence / insurance / ID document uploads. These are stored privately, never shown to customers, reviewed by a human, and deleted if your application is rejected or your account is deleted.
- Job photos — the condition photos you take before loading, after loading and at drop-off, kept with the job record.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch ResQ's servers — we hold only the job price and payment status. The current beta runs in Stripe's test mode: no live charge is made.
How long we keep things
- Driver location history — 24 hours.
- Customer request photos — deleted when you cancel, and expire automatically after 30 days.
- Verification documents — kept while you drive with us; deleted on rejection or account deletion.
- Completed jobs — kept as anonymised records (price, timestamps; no name, phone, vehicle or notes) for our business books.
Delete your account yourself, in the app
Open the ⋯ menu → Delete my account (available on both the customer and driver screens). It removes your profile, sign-in link, photos, documents and live request immediately — no email needed. You can also write to dreicjohn@gmail.com to access or delete your data.
Where your data lives, and who we share it with
Data is stored on Cloudflare (database and key-value storage). To run the service we call: DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service (registration → make/colour/tax/MOT), postcodes.io (postcode geocoding), OSRM (route planning) and Stripe (payments). We never sell your data and never share it for advertising or tracking.
